Second Life of Your Candle
A candle’s life doesn’t end when the flame fades.
Once your candle has burned down to the last 5 mm of wax or when the metal wick sustainer becomes visible, it’s time to give its container a second life.
How to Clean Your Candle Container
-
1. Freeze the Wax
- Place the candle container in the freezer for a few hours or overnight.
- The cold temperature will harden the remaining wax, making it shrink slightly and easier to remove.
-
2. Remove the Wax
- Once frozen, gently tap the bottom of the jar, and the wax should pop out in large pieces.
- If there’s still some wax left, use a spoon or butter knife to lift it out.
-
3. Remove the Wick Holder
- The metal wick sustainer at the bottom can often be pried off easily with a spoon or knife.
- If it’s stuck, pour a little warm water into the jar to loosen the adhesive.
-
4. Wash and Dry
- Use warm, soapy water to clean out any remaining wax residue.
- If needed, a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cloth will remove any stubborn spots.
- Dry the jar completely before repurposing it.
